Sveti Kliment Ohridski

Saint Kliment Ohridski is a prominent Bulgarian enlightened figure. He dedicated his life to teaching and training people in the first Bulgarian script, Cyrillic. He educated over 3,500 people in reading and writing in Bulgarian letters. He translated and rewrote the liturgical books from Greek and Byzantine into Bulgarian, thereby contributing to the spread of the Cyrillic alphabet throughout the country. He creates his own works, songs and poems.

He was recognized as the first Bishop of the Bulgarian language. Saint Kliment Ohridski knew both Glagolitic and Cyrillic. He learned from the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius and helped them in creating the alphabet. He continues their work and thanks to him Bulgaria has its own writing and culture.
